Top Five Cute Red Dresses for the Season

Spring and summer are finally here, and we all know what that means – the fashion industry is changing seasons as well.  It can certainly make it difficult to keep up with the trends! For the aspiring fashionistas out there, though, it also represents an opportunity.

Refreshing our closets isn’t exactly necessary each year, but it certainly is something that a lot of us enjoy doing.  Who doesn’t like shopping, right?  Well, this year, it seems like red is one of the biggest colors of the spring and summer.  Even florists are getting in on the action, as you can see here: https://thursd.com/articles/thursd-floral-trend-color-2023-passion-red.

The thing about red though is that it’s pretty much always in season.  Why is that?  Well, you can make it fit anywhere – simply put, it’s a staple in a lot of peoples’ closets for good reason.  If you’re not sure what direction to take it this year, though, it’s the perfect weather for dresses.  To get some inspiration on what styles to go with, though, stick around!

Five: Sun Dresses

If we’re going to talk about the classics, it wouldn’t be fair not to include sun dresses!  These long, flowy, and comfortable pieces are a perfect addition to any closet, really.  Since they’re able to keep us cool and comfy as well as being stylish, there’s a lot of potential there.

Depending on your own preferences, you could get one that has sleeves or a sleeveless one – either can totally work.  They’re not overly formal, but if you dress them up and accessorize them with a belt and some jewelry, you can gussy them up for almost any occasion.  When they’re in red, though, there’s a certain essence of elegance that is hard to achieve otherwise.

Four: Baby Doll Dresses

Shorter dresses are just as stylish and cute, of course, but they do tend to be a little less warm – perfect for the sunny days of the year.  Additionally, they can still have a flouncy bottom for the fun twirls!  Most importantly, the shorter styles do seem to be a bit more “in season” right now than the sun dresses.

As you can see from blogs like this one, it’s been pretty impossible to escape from red tones and hues this year.  This is especially true for cute little baby doll dresses, though that may seem a bit surprising.  Given how popular the style has become, though, it’s not all that shocking that stores have been adding them to their inventory lately!

Three: Midi Dresses

For a lot of women, midi dresses are something that are a total staple in their wardrobe.  The hallmark of one is of course those sleeves that go down to either the elbow or just above it, and the varying lengths of skirts that follow them.  Again, they’re a comfortable piece that is pretty low maintenance, but still gives the wearer a refined look.

Perhaps what’s nicest about them, though, is just how many patterns you can find.  After all, it’s not like to keep in style you’re stuck with plain red everything.  Instead, you could get rainbow patterns, florals, stripes – the works!  Even a hint of the hues that are in season can really add something to your outfit, so don’t feel like you need to restrict yourself too much.

If you want a few more examples of what that might look like, though, you can click here – there’s so many potentials that sometimes it can feel overwhelming.  Don’t worry if you’re feeling that way, though.  At the end of the day, you should get what feels most comfortable and pretty to you.

For many, the answer will probably be midi dresses.  That’s why they’re here in the number three spot – while they’re not exactly daring or breaking new grounds, they are beautiful.

Two: Sweater Dresses

Maybe it seems kind of strange to rank a style that is more appropriate for the cooler months so high on the list, but really, you can wear them any time.  After all, it’s not like most of us are working out in the hot sun if this is a part of our wardrobe, right?  Office buildings get cold, there’s no doubt about it.

So, adding in a sweater dress every once in a while can add some much-needed variety and warmth to your rotation of outfits.  Not to mention, most of them come in a few different options in terms of sleeve length and the works. Thanks to that, there’s not much risk of getting too hot!

One: Puffed Sleeve Dresses

If there is any style that we’ve seen explode this year, it’s been the different styles of sleeves on dresses.  Puffy ones, whatever shape or size that they’re in, are particularly appealing.  Some of them are called bubble sleeves, and they are probably the most popular ones thus far.

Why is that?  Well, a large part of it is probably comfort, once again.  You see, since they’re not really tight or restricted on the arms, they allow for a wider range of motion.  On its own, that’s already pretty nice, right?

In addition to that, though, there’s the fact that we can get playful and experimental in terms of the fabric for the sleeves.  They can be sheer or lacy to help us show off our arms (those with tattoos can be happy to display them proudly, for example).  Beyond that, though, it can be a way to express ourselves in what we wear.

Generally, it’s hard to go wrong with a cute red dress no matter what style you go with.  You can always dress it up or down with your accessories and even something like a blazer or cardigan.  So, feel free to get experimental this year!  Pick something out that you might not have had the guts to wear previously, and rock it!  After all, when we wear things that make us feel more confident and beautiful, it can positively affect our mental health as well.
